Product ID #01-100-002
The 2X80S bluetooth is a professional quality OBD II scan tool that supports all OBD II protocols from 1996 to current, at a very affordable price point.
The 2X80S scan tool includes our proprietary CD that is continually improved along with the tool, thus making it easier to use this great scan tool to repair vehicles for both the professional and the novice.
The two components have reached the point where the line from the generic data tool, the 2X80S was originally introduced as, to an enhanced data tool is becoming blurry. See the table on the right.
The 2X80S scan tool maintains fast reliable communications even with slow difficult communications protocols such as the 9141 and the 14230. Fast reliable communications reduces data gaps in the readings for more precise diagnostics.
Has proprietary STA enhancements that professional mechanics rely on for proper OBD II communications & testing.
The 2X80S obd2 scan tool is designed to eliminate data corruption caused by other obd2 scan tools.
CD v7.0 will start shipping June 2015. CD v7.0 includes over 500 megabytes of applications, guides, drivers, and utilities. For the first time, it will include enhanced software applications for Motorcycles, and Scooters.
2 year limited warranty.

This Free OBD-II Software works equally well with our 2X80S or the ELM327. These software programs allow you to use your PC and a hardware interface to get the information from your car's computer.
Most programs are very user-friendly, and easy to learn. It is also very easy to install: simply extract the files into a folder on your computer's hard drive, and you're ready to go. To uninstall the program, simply delete the entire contents of the folder where the program resides or use the add remove programs.
* data speeds are influenced by the vehicle, the software being used, your PC, and our Advanced Configuration Guide settings, which can achieve speeds over 56kbps on 9600bps vehicles.
What is data corruption and why is it important?
A scan tool that has not been engineered to protect from induced data corruption could add voltage to any circuit. Let's consider the Oxygen sensor circuit where a change as minute as 0.1Vdc can cause misdiagnosis. This induced false reading might show running rich when that is not the case. This false reading can take your diagnostics down the wrong path and cost more money and time to repair.
Why is increased data speeds important?
If your vehicle is capable of sending data at say 128kbps, but your scan tool is only capable of 32kbps (38,400) then quite literally you are only seeing a quarter (25%) of the data. Therefor you could very easily miss a voltage surge or drop and never know it! That's like trying to read and understand a document with 75% of the words redacted (deleted).
Every advantage you can give yourself when repairing a car, take it! Don't make it any harder than it has to be.
Does it come with software for the PC?
Yes! It is supplied with a variety of our preferred free and demo software programs. We constantly update and improve our FREE and demo software CD.
Can I get an updated CD as they are released?
Yes! The latest released CD version is available to previous customers for only a small update charge and shipping cost. Contact Customer Service.
Does it come with a user manual on how to operate it?
You do not need a user manual on how to operate the tool. Think of it like a modem or network card in your PC that takes you to the web. You don't need a manual for it. After the drivers are installed, it simply works.
Does it need to be updated every now and then?
No. However, we are constantly improving the 2X80S to make it better and better.
Do I have to buy the updated version?
No. The tool works fine today and you can expect years of service from it. This is why every tool comes with a 2 year warranty.
I have tried a few generic code readers and most don't even connect to my SUV.
In four plus years of live usage we find the 2X80S scan tools connect easier and better to vehicles. All scan tools sooner or later will have a problem connecting to a vehicle. This has more to do with the vehicle than the scan tool, because not all vehicles are truly OBD2 compliant.
I own a 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV and wish to service it myself. When it gives driver information such as for example "service park assist system" will the 2X80S help with this.
Currently there is software for the 2X80S that can both retrieve the full set of manufacturer DTCs and perform true bidirectional testing on the PCM, but not all the controllers. When we are through testing these software programs we may add them to our products.
Usually the "service park assist system" message requires replacement of a rear bumper sensor. Is there software I can install on my PC laptop so a novice can diagnose the problem and perform his own limited repairs?
Acquire and install the car manufacturers' repair data system onto your PC for testing procedure guidance and specifications. Then use a Digital Multi Meter to perform the pinpoint tests.
I am interested in providing a service to the public. What is needed in scanning a person's vehicle and giving them a print out so that they can take it to their repair shop or do the repairs themselves.
You could start this service with the 2X80S and the free software programs included on our Cd. However, you will probably find your customers require more information. The professional quality scan tool software programs we offer, provide you a file for the vehicle you tested, though to make it easy we suggest adding a free pdf writer software such as Cute PDF to your system and provide your report as a pdf file.
My question is why not just get one by Innova or Elmscan; what makes the scan tools that you advertise so much better.
We have all used the OEM and small hand-held type tools with limited information on one small screen, and found that it wasted time, but more importantly, we would miss a crucial piece of information because of the screen size. Read these reviews of live data testing here for more info. See the product comparison on the top right of the page.
So persuade me, tell me what would be the ideal setup for me. re: tool and software.
What you should do is purchase whatever scan tool fits your budget and your needs. We hope that you see the benefit of owning a 2X80S, but we realize that we are not for everyone. Read the comparison table on the right, all of our top competitors are not providing you, the customer, with anything like we do. btw.. all of our top competitors are more costly than our 2X80S.
When you place your order for a 2X80S it includes our CD of our preferred free and demo software programs, as well as guides, specifications and training materials. You can choose what program fits your style and comfort zone of diagnostics by testing them all, then when you are ready order the one you want hopefully it is one of ours.
I am not a mechanic so I would want something easy to operate and I am a picture oriented person, what should I get?
Look closely at OBD2 SPY as it has far greater number of graphing charts available vs simply data readings and consider adding some of the Product Service Training guides to provide the education you need.
Does an OBD 1 reader justify a purchase of it.
It really depends on how many times you are going to use the tool and software. Considering its low add on cost, it is a good idea to have it available.
What about instructions for installation?
The current drivers are installed first, then connect the 2X80S. This is all explained on the CD.
The Advanced Configuration Guide, we do not recommend this to the person just getting started; wait until you have some experience. Then you can make your 2X80S do even more.
Will your product # 2x80S-USB along with # gm12 and # gmobd1 allow me to fully scan a 1995 Chevy Lumina (which I believe is sometimes referred to as "OBD 1.5")?
Unfortunately, no one can tell you whether it will or not. This was when GM was first implementing obd2 and I have seen OEM tools not communicate with certain cars of that era.
I am thinking about a scan tool, and I want something that will give me the spec on sensors live data and tell me if they are correct
The 2X80S will most definitely give you live data, in fact it eliminates data drops of other tools through faster more reliable communications with vehicles.
Currently, several manufacturers are trying to implement something like this onto their proprietary diagnostics and data systems integration platforms. Unfortunately it is cost prohibitive to mechanics or shops that are not part of the dealer distribution.
I added it to cart and no extra shipping charges came, are there shipping charges to ship to Ontario, Canada?
Our current checkout cart is setup for the USA, which includes standard shipping on the 2X80S. Standard shipping service is also good for Canada, except on extremely heavy items. You can contact customer service and they will be happy to advise you.
Can you ship to Brazil?
Yes. We ship to most countries, simply contact customer service and provide your correct physical address (No PO Boxes) and they can confirm shipment dates and costs to you.
How long will it take for the tool to arrive?
Our shipper typically ships in under 24 hours, however we like you are at the mercy of the freight carrier and Customs. From experience, we have found that certain customs offices will hold a package for 7 to 10 days, while others process it through right away.
